Ever feel like success just takes waaay too darn long?
You’re not alone! And you’re not wrong—success can take a seemingly long time.
That’s what today’s video is all about. I tell you three stories about “slow success” — one about a student with ADHD who is now rockin’ school with straight A’s, one about a coach whose academic coaching business kept getting slowed down by life events, and one about my braces! Yes, I now have top braces, too :-/
Intrigued?
Catch the stories here in this six-minute and 11-second video:
Do you identify with any of those stories? What is something you’ve been working toward that seems to be taking much longer than you’d like? Are there small sucesses or instances of forward movement that you can focus on to keep yourself motivated? What can you do to celebrate each of those tiny wins? What kind words can you say to yourself when things seem to be going in the wrong direction or you feel stuck?
Learning to celebrate any progress—no matter how small—and to show yourself compassion when things are moving slowly will pay off massively throughout your life. How can you start practicing these skills now?
And, I hope you’ll remember you’re not alone! Whether you’re a student, parent, or educator, you can sign up for my LIVE community call here.

Ha ha – been doing this 27 years – still on the squiggly line and feel like going backwards some days. I feel like the tortoise – slowly step by step and constantly learning! Love your work Gretchen 🙂
I was watching this video on YouTube, and I was intrigued by your work and advice, especially since I’m a 52-year-old guy who just got braces myself. In that light, and given the other people on YouTube that have done videos on braces, I would rethink whether you should actually do a video like that on your professional website, because you should really be thought of as the brilliant life coach you are, not a person with braces who also happens to be a life coach.
I’ve noticed that Sarah Vigil has many braces videos on her channel, and when I try to look her up, it defaults to “Sarah Vigil Braces”, thus implying that she’s a person with braces who happens to also teach languages, rather than the brilliant language teacher she is. I’m sure she didn’t intend for it to be that way, but it is that way. So if you want to talk about braces, it might be better to do like you have in these videos, making them part of the total picture, rather having their own video.
