I’ll bet at this time in the semester, whether you’re a student, parent, or educator, you could use some self-care in your life right now…amirite?

Today’s video is a bit longer than usual (nine minutes and six seconds), and it’s all about how prioritizing self-care can help us actually do better work. In it, I share a bit about my current personal challenges and what I’m doing to try to create a routine that will ultimately help me be healthier and have less pain in my life…and also about the struggle to balance that with running my business.

I know your situation will not mirror mine, but I think you’ll relate and hopefully get a little bit of inspiration for what you might try in your own life.

Curious? Check out the video here:

What self-care do you need? How might prioritizing your own needs help you do better work? And what new routine or habit are you inspired to try?

Notice I said I’d done this for two days and gotten “data” about how it made me feel. It can be super helpful to do tiny experiments and be curious about what the outcomes will be when we’re trying new things. You can do a formal experiment and track your results on paper or your computer or phone, or just do an informal experiment and make a habit of noticing how you feel and what the results are.

And, did you catch the part about community being a big boost for me right now? Whether you’re a student, parent, or educator, community could probably be a big help for you, too. Who is your community where you can ask for support and get real about what’s going on in your life? Is your community not as big or as supportive as you’d like? Where can you seek out an understanding and caring support system?

If you’d like to join me in my community for a conversation, we’re gathering November 16 to talk about where you are right now: in the semester slog, the home stretch, or total panic. Reserve your spot here, and let’s see how we can make the most of the situation.

Be kind to yourself!

P.S. If you’re interested in learning more about my training programs and the Anti-Boring Educators’ Club community I mentioned, check out this Google Doc, or send me an email about your situation. I’d love to hear from you!
