Do you, or a student you love, struggle with essay word counts? It can be so hard to meet the teacher’s requirements for x number of words, especially when you are new to writing research papers and essays.

Recently with a 9th-grade client, I discovered how frustrated she was that she’d made two C’s on her outline and rough draft for a Western Civ paper. Upon further investigation, I discovered that she’d been adding “fluff” to her paper to try to achieve the 1000 word minimum her teacher required.

Together, we did the following tasks to get rid of the fluff and make the ideas in the paper stronger.
